Two old folk eke out a living herding llamas in the remote Bolivian highlands. Pared to the bone, life is tough and simple – water, llamas, corn. But ‘time has got tired’, the rains have failed and their family wants them to move to the city. Set in the shadow of the Andes this elegiac, minimalist fable is similar in many ways to Aga (WOW 2019). Quiet, mysterious and beautifully observed, this visually jaw-dropping, award-winning debut makes an interesting comparison with Cholitas.
