'EARTH' FILM NIGHT AT LLANWARNE VILLAGE HALL

Wales One World Film Festival & Radical Film Network Present Earth

Film lovers and cultural explorers alike are in for a rare treat as we have teamed up with the Radical Film Network to host a special screening of Alexander Dovzhenko's Earth in Llanwarne.

Widely regarded as a groundbreaking achievement in Soviet cinema, this 1930 masterpiece captures the raw beauty of the natural world and explores themes of social transformation, progress, and the relationship between humanity and the land.

A film ahead of its time, Earth is often heralded as the first deeply personal film in Soviet cinema, a cinematic poem that blends human drama with the majesty of nature. With its stunning visual compositions and emotional resonance, Dovzhenko’s work continues to inspire filmmakers and captivate audiences nearly a century later.

The screening will offer a chance to experience the film in a communal setting, and it will also include a short film presentation from the Radical Film Network, showcasing their commitment to thought-provoking and socially engaged cinema.

Live music will be performed by the talented Ashley John Long and Lyndon Owen (Toru Duo), whose scores have breathed new life into many of the film's we've screened in Llanwarne and will, once again, do so to Dovzhenko’s timeless visuals, creating a multi-sensory experience that blends past and present.

🗓️ Date: Saturday, 22 February
