Whilst in limbo at a government type facility, the recently deceased are interviewed about their lives and instructed to choose one memory to make into a film that they will take with them to the next stage of existence. Part scripted and part documentary, the actors draw on real life memories to produce a film of great authenticity, charm and warmth that paves the way for the great Japanese director’s later work.
“It is, quite simply, a stunning... deft ode to the enduring properties of memories and sensations.” PJ Navarro
