Fraught with regret at what might-have-been, it is overshadowed by family disapproval, the recent death of Mahi’s son, and Behrouz’s relationship with the much younger Tehrani Sara, who is mired in family obligations of her own. Hedieh Tehrani is quietly brilliant as Mahi, the still centre of this thoughtful, beautifully made film. Meticulously constructed and constantly surprising, every scene has a quiet depth.
