The film we'll be showing is Abbas Kiarostami's groundbreaking Where is My Friend's Home?, a beautiful and deceptively simply story about a young boy helping his friend to get his homework in on time. It seems entirely appropriate to be showing this in the space of a theatre company that has worked with children internationally for over thirty years!
Before the film there's a chance to socialise and share a Persian feast cooked by Jen Goss from Our Two Acres, brilliant cook who grows many of her ingredients on her smallholding three miles away. The menu includes:
Herbed rice with fish
Lima beans with eggs & dill
Salad-e Shirazi
Persian carrot salad
Persian Barbari flatbreads
Honey soaked pastries
Mint tea
We're also setting the traditional Haft-Seen table (pictured) with sprouted wheat, olives, garlic, apples, eggs, etc. symbolising fertility, love, health and wisdom.
Here's to a great occasion!
